It’s been a while since I posted here! However, spring is approaching, and even though I’m in summer school, conventions keep happening.

We’re missing the Steampunk World’s Fair this year (sadface) but preparing for a repeat Iron Man performance at FanExpo, tons of fun working with the guys and gals of Atomic Lollipop, and planning a new Wreck-it Ralph couple cosplay for this summer. Due to my schoolwork and the boyfriend working full time, we’ve decided to scale back to a simpler project than we took on last year.

The armor needs to be a bit repaired. I’ll take some after-con-damage pics soon.

Also hello to all the new followers! If you like, also follow my personal tumblr at hockeybat.tumblr.com where I reblog fandom things, random cosplays by other people that are amazing, and sometimes tutorials for crafts and cosplay. Although the Iron Man Armor Project is ongoing, it definitely gets updated less often than my personal blog.

Hey! I'm going to be Black Widow for halloween this year and I stumbled across the picture of your BF's Widow's Bites. I would be SOOOO grateful if you could tell me how he made them or where he got them! Thanks!

They were made from two old bullet belts he had back in high school and doesn’t wear anymore. You can find them online or at Spencer’s Gifts if you have one of those nearby. They were really popular with mall punks about 10 years ago, so you might even find them at a Hot Topic.

He cut each belt in half and placed them bullet bottom-to-bottom and hot glued them. If you have smaller wrists, you may get away with using less belts, but he used a whole belt for each side. He filled in the gaps between the bottoms of the bullets with more glue, then spray painted it black. It’s just closed with velcro.

Yup. That’s my boy. Being BAMF and GQMF is totally a full time occupation.

Breaktime!

With con season being over now, and having debuted the suit at Canada’s largest geek convention last weekend, it’s time to take a little break from this project. A few things need to be re-done and/or repaired/reworked, but there will be time enough for that later!

In the meantime, Halloween is coming up, and then Christmas, so if you don’t already, please follow my main blog - http://hockeybat.tumblr.com for more pics and updates on the things I’m making for both holidays!

Halloween is my favorite holiday of all, so get ready for some (a lot) reblogs, and maybe even some costume posts. I’ll definitely try to rework the shoes in time to wear my suit again for Halloween of course, and begin planning to fiberglass and resin certain pieces by doing them completely anew.

This blog is not finished! Just going on a break from the entire Iron Man thing for a little while. After a month and a half of nonstop slaving away over foam, glue, and paint, I need to not look at it for a bit. Bf will probably be happy to not have to think about it at all for a bit, too.

Also, little secret for my few followers - if you like Marvel characters, superheros, and generally awesome video game characters like I do, I’m working on a totally new, but huge, project in the future to bring you some superhero themed fashion. I hope you’re as excited as I am.

Note: We don’t actually know the Lady Loki and fem!Cap, they just happened to walk by and were perfect for a couple shots together! So, unfortunately, I’m unable to credit them. The photo is just too awesome to not post anyway though.
